Privacy Policy
Livewall turns your photos into moving wallpapers. This policy covers the Livewall apps for iPhone, Android and Mac.
The short version
There are no accounts, no ads inside the app and no cross-app tracking. When you ask Livewall to bring a photo to life, that one photo is sent to our server to make the moving video (AI Motion), described below. The apps also report a few anonymous app events (such as finishing the intro or starting a trial) to us, and the iPhone app to Meta, so we can measure our own advertising; see Measuring our ads. Your photos are never shared for advertising. On Android, Google's on-device ML Kit (which finds the subject in your photo) also sends Google limited diagnostics, described below.
AI Motion (all versions)
- What is sent. When you choose a photo or tap Generate, Livewall uploads that photo (cropped to your screen's shape), an optional motion description you type, and a random device identifier to our server over an encrypted connection. The identifier is used only to count your free and Pro videos; it is not linked to your name, email or any account.
- Who processes it. Our server sends the photo to Google's Veo video model through Vercel's AI Gateway to generate the video. Google and Vercel process it only to produce the video, under their terms for API customers, which do not allow them to use it to train their models.
- How long it is kept. The uploaded photo is deleted as soon as the video is made. The finished video is kept on our server for up to 30 days so your device can download it, then deleted. A count of videos per device identifier is kept to enforce the free and monthly limits.
- You choose. Nothing is uploaded until you pick a photo to bring to life. The bundled sample wallpaper needs no upload.
Measuring our ads
- App events to us. The iPhone and Android apps send our server a short note when you reach certain steps: finishing the intro, starting or finishing your free video, seeing the Livewall Pro offer, starting a trial or buying. Each note contains the step, the plan (if any), the app version, the platform and the random device identifier described under AI Motion. We use them only to count how many people reach each step.
- Meta (iPhone). We advertise Livewall on Facebook and Instagram. The iPhone app includes Meta's SDK, which tells Meta when the app is opened, when you finish the intro, when your video is ready, and when you start a trial or buy (with the plan's price and currency), so Meta can tell which ads lead to people using Livewall. Livewall does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps, so the SDK does not use your device's advertising identifier, and Meta receives no photos, videos or personal details from us. Meta handles this data under Meta's privacy policy.
- Apple's SKAdNetwork. The iPhone app also reports the same steps to Apple's SKAdNetwork, which tells ad networks, in aggregate and without identifying you, how many installs from an ad reached each step.
Livewall for iPhone
- Photos you pick. When you choose a photo, Livewall reads it to build the wallpaper. Cropping and building the Live Photo happen on your iPhone; the moving video is made by AI Motion (above), the only time anything is uploaded.
- Saving to Photos. With your permission, Livewall saves the finished Live Photo to your photo library so you can set it as your Lock Screen. It does not read or change anything else in your library.
- Your wallpaper list. The wallpapers you make are kept in the app's own storage on your iPhone. Deleting a wallpaper in the app, or deleting the app, removes them.
- Nothing else collected. Apart from AI Motion and the app events described under Measuring our ads, we do not collect personal information, diagnostics or location. Apart from Meta's SDK, the app contains no third-party SDKs.
Livewall for Android
- Photos you pick. You choose a photo with Android's photo picker, which gives Livewall only that photo; the app has no access to the rest of your library. Cropping and finding the subject happen on your phone; the moving video is made by AI Motion (above), the only time a photo is uploaded. Your wallpapers are excluded from Android's cloud backup.
- Finding the subject. Livewall uses Google's on-device ML Kit, delivered through Google Play services, to separate the subject from the background. The photo itself stays on your phone. To run and improve ML Kit, Google Play services sends Google limited diagnostic information: device and app information (such as model, Android version and app version), performance and error data, and device or per-installation identifiers. This is sent over an encrypted connection and handled under Google's privacy policy; we never receive it.
- Live wallpaper. Livewall plays your wallpaper on your phone using Android's live wallpaper feature. It needs no permissions.
- Purchases. Livewall Pro is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment and your payment details; the app only asks Google Play, on your phone, whether you own Pro. Manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Your wallpaper list, retention and deletion. The photos and wallpapers you make are kept only in the app's private storage on your phone, until you delete them. Deleting a wallpaper in the app (press and hold it) removes it; uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes everything. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
- Nothing else collected by us. Apart from AI Motion and the app events described under Measuring our ads, we have no accounts, advertising or tracking.
Livewall for Mac
The Mac app works the same way: the photo you choose is sent to our server only to make its AI Motion video (above), and everything else stays on your Mac.
Children
Livewall is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. Uploaded photos are used only to make the video and are deleted as described above.
